RETURN HOME   Victorian Mourning Hair Jewelry

Hair is a symbol of life, and consequently death, in many cultures. Upon the passing of her beloved Prince Albert, Queen Victorian  popularized wearing of hair jewelry for mourning. The fashion faded at the turn of the 20th Century  with the death of Queen Victoria, and when the sentimentality of the Victorians was derided.
